BAMA BIKEFEST 2004 MAY RALLY
Bama Bikefest may 2004 Forkland, AL May 14-16th 2004 A new rally for me I heard some good things about this new rally last year... some really good things. Heard it was a pretty good little party even if it was the first time they'd put on a rally and that I missed a good time. Huh. Well, we can't have that, can we? So put it on my ''to do'' list for 2004 Having never been there before (it's only their second year), I had no idea what to expect. Pulled in the site and was pleasantly suprised... lots of big open fields with trees for shade, tons of camping and RV spots, a burnout pit, a stage, showers & porta-potties... this rally has all the ingredients for a good party. And best of all, there was a big sign when you pull in the gate that says ADULTS ONLY - MUST BE OVER 18. Oh ya, this is looking good ! Wait a sec... what's that big tin building over there? I go check it out and it's a... come on, try & guess... a BAR! A real honest to God bar! With a pool table, chairs, and REAL ALCHOOL! And Bartenders! And a liquor license and all. Whoohooo ! Somebody pinch me, I must be dreaming. You hardly ever see a bar on location at a biker rally. Damn, I already like this rally and there ain't even nobody here yet :) The weather looked pretty bad most of the weekend. Ya know, dark clouds looking like it was gonna open up and pour down on us any second pretty well sums up friday and Saturday morning, although it never did actually rain. And despite that a couple of hundred of the right kind of people showed up to camp out & party... and party we did. There was a Miss Bama bikefest contest on Friday night, Poker run on Saturday morning, a biker rodeo, a wet t-shirt contest, a pickle sucking contest, a bike show and of course a live band. Hell, there was even some people that setup a slip'n slide over in the corner, just for fun. And my buddies the HOG NUTS were there, and of course FAST EDDY was the MC for the rally. And ya'll know that if anybody can whip up a party it's Eddy ! All in all it was a pretty good time. Not bad at all for only being their second rally ever. I met the Frank & Connie who organized the weekend... they told me that they had put on two rallies last season, May & October. The early rally only had maybe a hundred or two people show up, but their October rally had over 500 party animals pile in for a wild weekend. They were hoping for good weather over the weekend to really launch their second year with a bang and get their rally on the map... but you know how it goes. Sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes it just rains on your parade. Folks, this one has ALL the right ingredients to be one crazy weekend, it just needs a little more time for the word to get out... I'd bet my last dollar that it's gonna whip up into one of them real wild biker parties that we all love. I'm definately plan on returning to this party in the fall. I'm certain that this one's going to become one of the great rallies in the South sometime in the real near future and I'll be able to tell everyone that I been there way back when they first started out. ---------------------- Adults Only No children allowed.
