Exclusive biker party coverage : 2008 Railroad Rally|
A good effort and turnout for a first time rally.
This rally is the brainchild of Pam and Karen who donate ALL profits from this event to help local cancer patients who simply can't afford the cost of living anymore.
The rally itself was located in one of the best campgrounds I've seen in a while. Lot's of shade, everywhere. Private property with no neighbors close by and even their very own little river. It's a great spot for a hot august rally.
This being their first event it was a little on the disorganized side, but still fun if you now what I mean. All the parts where there, but it wasn't slick like many of the shows put on by promoters. But it was a lot of fun, the entire rally had a real ''grass roots, old school'' feeling to it. I'd guess a few hundred people showed up for their first event, which is actually pretty good.
The bands were once again... suprisingly good. Three bands playing rock and southern rock, and having a good time doing it. You've gotta love it when the guitar player jumps off the stage and starts wandering around and playing with the crowd... and not skipping a single note the entire time.
This rally reminds me a lot of the old days when benefits used to be put on by people who saw a need, not a promoter that saw an opportunity for profit. They had the right kind of people show up, the bands were good and even more importantly just plain old fun. And the motorcycles actually outnumbered the RV's by about three to one! Keep an eye on this party, I have a feeling it's going to be up on my favorites list next summer.
